Happy Halloween Type

I sat down and listed all the creatures of the night that I could think of associated with halloween. Like Werewolves, Witches, Frankenstine and used them as skins for my Happy Halloween poster. My expectations are to color each of these letters in time for All Hallow's eve.

I have a bunch of plans for work drawings, we will see when those come to fruition.
Have a scary...I mean nice night...

Sebastion drawing

Just a small weird drawing of Sebastion Scott in a hallucination filled world. I think this drawing was a bit inspired by the little part of "Beetlejuice" I watched over the weekend.
I'm torn between drawing Beyond, Claf and Steve or some online comics.
Well I gotta go work on somthing...

End of my week!

I'm enjoying my Sunday to Thursday schedule. It's still going to take some time to get used to. But I am trying to take the time to actually work on long time projects that I have in the works.

Sorry most of these will not be seen here. (Well, maybe a sketch or two.) But I am planning a full Claf and Steve online story and some other finished odds and ends. Here is one now...be it an odd or be it an in; who is to know?

A panel idea that came from a previous post.
Well, see you next week

Claf and Steve online!

Just finishing up some online adventures for the boys of the farlands Claf and Steve. Here is a panel from a random story. It's a bit out of place with out the whole story, but it does have a Buckaroo Banzai reference in it so that makes me smile.
More stories soon I swear!

Sketchbook Thursday...

I got too busy last night to finish what I planned to post...and I wasn't happy with the things I did produce. My sketchbooks saves me again from my lazyness.
Just some nice figure figure work on this page.
Here is some Claf and Steve characters and ideas... If you look closely you can find a a sketch of Sydney .
Here is some ideas for a band, JohnnyHyperDrive, I was working with at the time. I still love the Easter Island heads and the Hula girl imagery. I only produced one poster for them they wanted more violent gun toting imagery.

Claf's Girl

And also a picture of my Plaid Paladin in his magician garb.

I'm getting a lot of updating of these characters done...

I'm Back!

I had a nice little vacation . I got a hand full of stories drawn and some written. The one that I had a deadline for was Crash! Boom! Bang! I turned it in Friday. and decided to finish up my first version of my submission, which was a completely different idea. So I decided to post this old version up for all to see.

This was a challenge for publication of a story called Crash! Boom! Bang! where they supplied the script of sound works and you had to make a comic from the words. I decided to turn in a actual story involving the mud monster in panel 5 instead of separating the sounds.

Visit http://52comicchallenges.com/ to see the projects origins. and to see where you can get published, too.
More finished work to come.

I'm going to take a week off from blogging to finish a few assignments I need to work on. I am finishing up my "Crash! Boom! Bang" submission and starting up a "Claf and Steve" project and possibly few CAS online goodies. Maybe I'll get a surplus of doodles and drawings to post up here..

Here is a lone panel from Claf and Steve...

Claf and Steve Panel

Just getting reacquainted with my old characters. Claf and Steve have an old familiarity to them that makes them easy to draw and a newness that I need to write fresh stories. Here’s a panel with no background, with Steve peeking around the panel border, it shows the “tongue in cheek/fourth wall break” quality to the script I was going for when I created them. And we see Duke Snookie the one eyed nobleman of the Farlands hasn't aged a second.

Camping was fun this weekend, not too hot. We learned my puppy can swim like a fish. I'm exausted and back to work, hopefully not nodding off
See you tommorow,
Bob

This is Sydney the bounty hunter from Claf and Steve. I decided to update her look for the new chapters I have for Claf and Steve.

for the old version of this pic go to: http://clafandsteve.8m.com/

Some prelims of Sydney that I worked up.
More Claf and Steve related things abound next week. I'm off tommorow, going camping with my wife and her clan.

Sketchbook Wednesday...

I have some good stuff coming up but I took a night off yesterday. Accsidently pass out on my couch and wasted a whole night!

Thus, a sketchbook day!

This guy is an apocalyptic superhero I have no background for...
And my version of a fairy...I'm not that fanciful, she's more realistic sad girl that just happens to have pillowy wings.
More to come...
Enjoy!

Young American Comics

Young American Comics (named after the Bowie so... Not some political group!) has a new site that challenges people to draw comics. And will post a challenge a week for a year. I'm trying my best to so some shorts for them.

I also plan to submit to their Anthology with a "what's in the box" entry. Go to the site to see what that means. I am working on a strip starring my college characters Claf and Steve. They are thieves that collect and sometimes sell the stuff they steal from Duke Snookie.

I will try to post up bad strips on the Claf and Steve: The blog .
Enjoy!

Sushi Monday...

I took a vacation day last Friday, and will take one next Friday. Sorry for no Friday updates...

We went out to my friend Jeff's family lake, it was too cold to swim, I was very disapointed in not swiming. We took our puppy Chocolate out to see the lake and meet some of my friends that haven't met him yet. He had a blast with his new friends. We built a fire pit, made a nice fire, and cooked brats and chicken, yum. It was a perfect cookout day. I will post some pictures soon.

I think I still have Japanese stuff on the brain, left over from the Japanese Festival. I have been drawing Sushi, ninjas, and Japanese schoolgirls all weekend. Honestly, I draw Japanese Schoolgirls constantly. So here is the out of the ordinary sushi drawings.

Thanks,

Sketchbook Wednesday!

I still don't have much to show but here are some thumbnails of the Spider-man comic I'm working on. I have a whole bunch of finished work to show you, I swear. I'm also working on the 1st cover to "Beyond: The late adventures of Sebastion Scott" It was really fun to design so I am really trying hard to make it beautiful.

And a girl that was stuck in my head, so I let her live in my sketchbook.

More to come.

Post old stuff to recover from weekend!

I worked all the way through the weekend at my Sunday job, they called me in on Saturday. I did get alot of nice work done while I was there. but nothing finished yet I am rotating between three stories, so not to get bored with any of them. So they will be up soon. Until then I had to scour my files for stuff I scanned but never posted. So this is technially a clean up day! Enjoy my Ninja that me and my friend John mused over one day.

I have been very interested in the storytelling of illustration in a single image. Even though I have been working on lots sequential panels. I think a single picture can say a thousand words as an old proverb says. I am very interested in the drawings of Arthur Rackham. He's got so much going into each one of his illustrations. His pen and ink with the watercolors are so lush and beautiful. It's hard not to be inspired by his works here are some examples.

Well thats all i got.
I'll try to scan my thumbnails of the finished comic pages too.
Enjoy!

Not much...

I don't have much to post today. I am working on some bigger more complicated samples for the CBI contest. I am also going to submit some "Beyond" pages that I was reluctant to show due to the story only being part-way drawn. I am becoming less and less optimistic that I will even make it to the next round by the strong submissions. I wish that you had to show how long it took them to do a particular drawing. I’m wondering, because I am limiting myself to 24 hours for a single drawing and a week for a sequential set of pages. I’m not sure if that is what some of the contestants are doing. They will have to produce on deadline. Which is very hard if not practiced on a normal basis. Well, we will see.

Here is a little pencil doodle I did Saturday.

Please check out the rest of the blog and comment accordingly. And check out Comic Book Resources' Comic Book Idol contest. Links are in earlier posts...
